FIRST Robotics Team 2471, Team Mean Machine is based out of Camas, Washington. The team is an alliance of four different schools, Camas, Hayes Freedom, Washougal and Hockinson High Schools. Students from these schools join forces with the help of numerous mentors to create working robots for the FIRST Robotics Competition each year. The team also gives back to the community that has supported them immensely, by doing numerous robotics, science and technology related projects for the elementary schools and for the Parks and Recreation Group. These fully working robots come from the hard working students of various sub-teams, including Programming, Build and Manipulation. In addition to the building aspect of the robots, the PR sub team connects with various industry sponsors and conducts team fundraisers to earn the finances for the team. These hardworking students of various ages and grades and schools all form our team, Team Mean Machine.

Team Mean Machine was created four years ago, with students solely from Camas High School. We have now diversified, and include students from Hockinson, Hayes Freedom and Washougal High Schools. Our current team membership totals at 27 students, and 15 mentors. As our team has grown, so has our popularity among the region. In 2011, we won both the Seattle Cascade Regional and the Autodesk Oregon Regional, which gave us the chance to compete at the World Championships in St. Louis.

We meet at Liberty Middle School in Camas (see our Calendar for our next meeting). We are always looking for help, be it as a student member, an adult mentor, or a sponsor. Community members are also welcome to pay us a visit. So if you have any questions or would just like to see what we're doing, come to one of our meetings to check it out.
